Ned Lamont, Country Club Democrat

If Ned Lamont is trying to shed his image as an dilettante opportunist, he may want to stop talking about his exclusive Greenwich country club. Check out this disturbing passage from today's front-page story in the New York Times, where Lamont confesses that he quit his membership at the restrictive Round Hill country club not out of principle but only because he was afraid of how it might look in the campaign.

For years the Lamonts were members of the Round Hill country club in Greenwich, but Mr. Lamont said he resigned his membership because he did not want it to become a distraction in his campaign. Mr. Lamont said the club excluded people because it was so expensive, and also said he was “a little bit” concerned that many of its members were white.

“It’s not as diverse as it should be,” Mr. Lamont said. “I didn’t pay as much attention to that before the race began, to tell you the truth."

It will be curious to see how Lamont's apologists in the blogworld spin this one.

During the debate, Lord Lieberman posed a very intriguing question:

Who is Ned Lamont?

Ned Lamont may be a millionaire, but that is the least of his many virtues. Ned Lamont is not a sellout. That's why people seem to like him.

Don't you have anything better to do with your life than troll here?

What's the matter - Lamont not giving you enough money to advertize your site on your own? Maybe you should hit up some of his racist country club buddies.

But I guess being a lying troll actually works well for someone of your lack of intelligence, which is obvious from the fact that all you do is repeat Lamont's press releases and other bloggers' anti-Lieberman stories.

You have answered you own question.

All you have to do is stop lying about Lieberman and we'll stop telling the truth about him.

The Journal-Inquirer On Lieberman Smear Campaign

It seems that "Mister Principles" is being called out for his nattering negativity on all things Lamont-related. What ever happened to that respectful elder statesman from CT?

lieberman4liebman: cool article, thx. quote apropos for this thread topic:

"Why is it "buying" a Senate seat when you use your own money but not when you use the money of special interests? Joe gets his money from corporate America. Lamont gets his from one businessman - himself."

Have Another Mushroom, Senator

Instead of leveling with CT residents, Lieberman continues to spin tall tales about all of the sweetness and light in Iraq:

"There really has been progress made by the Iraqi military," Lieberman said Tuesday during a meeting with the Connecticut Post's editorial board. "Two-thirds of it could stand on its own or lead the fight with our logistical support."

Of course, the converse is true. Earlier this year, one-third could have stood up. Apparently, right now, NONE of the Iraqi military could "stand up".

Even worse, Turkey is threating to invade because the security situation has deteriorated to such a great extent.

Lieberman's lies about the dire situation in Iraq very harmful

Good point. Should also mention that Lamont supporters can contribute here if they have a few extra bucks. They're having a 2 for 1 thing right now.

From Ned's site (see above link):

Senator Barack Obama reminded Connecticut Democrats recently what a difference good, progressive government can make in people’s lives—from social security and Medicare to the national highway system and the Civil Rights acts.

What he fails to mention is that his hero, Mr. Obama, endorsed Joe Lieberman!

Well, here's one very minor blogger's spin:

You guys are reeeealy grasping for straws here, aren't you?

And here's my personal spin on it:

You guys are very, very good at going negative. You've shown that. We get it.

Personally, it turns me off. Way off.

Lieberman mulls running as a Republican after Aug 8th

Interesting. Maybe the cut-and-run party of one just isn't quite cutting it.

Lieberman has said repeatedly that he will only run as an independent and will caucus with Dems, so he's already answered that question.

So Lieberman is not mulling it, but a deputy comm director is not authorized to make statements on behalf of the whole campaign. It has to be the head comm director or campaign manager.

And so, unsurprisingly, the Lamontista lies continue. Citing speculation as fact, a tactic perfected by Karl Rove. How pathetic.

But we are not necessarily pro-Lamont.

The Lamonistas continue to steer the convo away from its purpose. I'm sure Ned knew the difference between the people their. White eat in the dining room eand everyone else serves.

He has a serious problem in that he bowed out in order to not cvomporomis his campaign by being attached to an old-school, bug bucks, whites-only country club.

That is NOT sincere and his actions are reflective of his intent. To con the public about who he is and what he is. He hangs with racists and profits from Halliburton stock--he should have dumped it the moment he knew he had it but he's kept it instead, and he's partnered with Vonage--an outsourcer of American jobs.

Ned is a phony. He doesn't understand the enormous responsibility of Senate Politics and he doesn't understand that old-time racist clubs aren't where people who care for the ALL people have their drinks and dinner while non--whites work in the kitchen and clean the toilets.

Keep in mind the fact that Ned lamont is not being compared to St. Francis. The only person he is being compared to is Joe Lieberman, who continues to support the war in Iraq despite everything we were told would happen being wrong. Joe carried water for Bush, and there has to be blowback from that.

More from that article--
Advisers to Mr. Lieberman say that Mr. Lamont has been callow on Iraq. At first the challenger was reluctant to endorse an immediate troop withdrawal; as liberals embraced him, he has became more full-throated. As the recent Senate debate on Iraq was unfolding, Mr. Lamont said he favored a plan by Senators John Kerry and Russ Feingold to set a firm exit date for troops — yet he also said he was comfortable with another Democratic plan that did not have a timetable. The Lieberman campaign accused him of trying to have it both ways, but Mr. Lamont said he was being a pragmatist. “Deadline, time frame, whatever words you want — just get the troops out,” he said. “In business we have deadlines all the time, we operate well with deadlines.”

Looks like Ned's doing the Flip-Flopper Two Step here. First he wants an immediate pullout and then says he'll support a plan that doesn't have a timetable when he LEARNS that rapid withdrawal isn't a good idea, well, maybe we could call it a DUMB idea. Understandably, Ned doesn't want to be associated with DUMB ideas anymore than neccesary.

It's easy to see why Ned would associate the War and Business as one in the same--afterall business is about making money and those Halliburton shares are valuable money makers--that must be why he won't dump them. It's okay to scorn the war but it's okay to profit from it.

Geez Louise--this guy flip-flops on the pullout but has declared he won't dump his Halliburton stock.

Maybe we need our own float--Ned and Kos in their tin foil hats with 'em kissing the almighty dollar between them.

I don't think Joes has ever flip-flopped on being a racist to win a vote.

How disgusting. Lamont really is simply disgusting. A RichBoy Racist who panders to the liberal left to get their vote. If his racist country-club membership had been disclodsed early on how do you think the masses would feel about him now. Tahnk goodness its finally out in the publics eye.

Racist RischBoy Ned.

He's going down and it's gonna be hard. This will NOT go away.

If so it's a mere fraction of what the Lamonsistas have come to be KNOWN for.

Lies and HATE and inventing falsehoods.

Do you feel the dam beginning to crack?

Lamont doesn't even notice who he dines with vs who serves him or cleans the toilets at his country club until he decided to campaign and then only resigned membership because it would be inconvenient to be a racist and a senatorial campaigner. Geez--I don't know which is more dumb--not noticing who you dine and play with or admitting you gave it up only to not appear a richboy racist.

Lamont learns! he has Halliburton stock and won't dump it. He'll be against the war but feels its okay to profit by it. (If I had 50K in a stock I sure as heck would know it.)

Lamont won't release his last five years of tax returns--the last year--well, we haven't seen THAT yet, but the previous four? What's he hiding?

Campus Televideo partners with Vonage, a notorious outsourcer of American Jobs.

It's a LOT to consider. And the country club admission may be just the tip of the iceberg. What else can we expect from this incapable wannabe?

Jackson and Sharpton stood with a man who inherited his great-grandfathers wealth which admittedly was made on the backs of slaves. These frauds missed the chance to stand with Joe Lieberman, a real civil rights advocate who actually marched with real civil rights leaders in the 1960's.
